Midnight Romance

My bird cage remains as dark as charcoal Until I hear twelve counts on the clock bell I then rouse, to let my hearty whims roll There, on the roof, enlaced in love's spell! Why, at midnight, romance and I dive down To where oceans refuse to wade, out of Deep fear, and we rise to where skies do frown Crossed, unable to conquer it above! Stars watch us and smile down enviously The moon, so crimson, closes both its eyes While we demonstrate of the purity Of our love without resorting to lies! When the dawn soaks us with its morning glare We feign to yearn not for the midnight flare! For Contest Midnight Romance Written on 7th October 2017
