Midnight
It’s the moment that marks an end and at the same time a beginning
If yesterday found you a loser, today you might be winning
Every second until now may not have turned out to be just right
But you can start it all all over again at the stroke of midnight
In the cloak of her darkness, in the shadows of her moon
In anticipation of a new day that arrives none too soon
In the passing of the old day and the arrival of the next
The hour that is midnight is the hour I love best
While you sleep away this moment, unaware of her return
I stay awake so I can ponder all the lessons that I have learned
Yesterday’s troubles stay behind while I await the new day’s light
And thank the stars above for sharing with me a new midnight
