Mid October Afternoon

After a
hearty
meal
        we walked
in the woods
   those paths
lead to
     the heart of the forest
   Sunlight lights up
the bright colors of the
trees
Laughter in autumn!
    I feel like
flying through
    the air
         like a football
thrown by a
boy
    Birds form
patterns overhead
    let the day
roll on
    the winds blow
clear and crisp
    Later we'll rest
               but for now
let's delight
   in the joys
of autumn
   in the song
that is nature
   in the fantasy
that changes
      into our lives

Breathtaking! What a remarkable picture of autumn the poem paints. Outstanding work. As to the message it reminds me of an Eastern Poet called Josh Malihabadi. I have translated his work in English thus: O wise! Be happy even if affliction pressed. Be not in search of comfort obsessed. The flame of desire of the non-existent burns you. Enjoy, enjoy! The morsel possessed. Also thanks for appreciating my Poem A Paper Boat.

Wow - love this! Yes, fall is my very favorite time of year also. I am so there on your walk in this poem, as your soar in the air from all the beauty. Matthew, would you be interested in contributing 5 of your poems to Crystal's next book? Let me know. Thanks. Love, Shar

Autumn is my absolute favorite season, and there is nothing better than a walk in her best dress...beautiful! Love Kristin
