Metal Idol Worship

Captain America
is looking flagpole beautiful
in his wavy red, white and blue
body-fitting uniform
But, Manifest Destiny hero worship
don’t even come close
to his citizens A-love for the gun ...
Trigger huggable sidearms
Hot steel aficionados
got a love that’s real
Giving a Pompeii embrace
to the smoking metal volcano
spitting out lead lava that kills
Their devotion is automatic,
with preying eyes sight scope
that is semi-conscious
*****sapien hunters do dream
of the big game safari
in the fiery, savannah valley below
Smeared faces with resin of the earth,
follow the blood trail
with their flared nostrils in the dirt
Hunter of humans
who worship the instrument of the killing
Metal idol worship
is their favorite sin
Auto-repeat fantasy ... red paint pellets bursting
An acquired iron-copper taste
leaves the dry, explosive powdered mixture thirsting
Insatiable hunger for the gun ...
Renaissance technology
that sent the world on a bullet run
If Jesus said: Follow me,
but first cast aside your metal weapon
Gun owners wouldn’t give theirs up,
gun enthusiasts wouldn’t turn theirs in
They would say that Christ was a false prophet,
and that the devil Beelzebub was His friend
Behold the synagogue of a sin-strapped congregation:
Observe how they be silently, eagle-eye sniper praying,
with itchy, cocked trigger fingers metal idol worshiping

I agree with your sentiments on gun control. Not much has been done over the years...and I don't expect much, unless the younger voters do their magic over time. Kudos for the theme, Freddie.

I couldn't agree with you more Freddie. We were in Hawaii a few days ago and there where two taxi drivers who were in awe of how in Australia we don't carry guns and how things are peaceful. Guns were a big topic. Of course we were told that guns in Hawaii were highly regulated. Well written...Maria
