Message From a Disabled Vet

Was sitting in my wheelchair in my den,
My son, playing with trucks on the floor.
The smell of pot roast wafting from the
kitchen door.
I thought I ‘d read a poem from this site
and then…..my heart was sore!

I began to weep, someone….a poetess
There has a very anti-American pen!
She’s an American and I,as a soldier,will say
Her love of American freedom-is dour..
She’s an ingrate, like many, she’d die living
under Communist rule for an hour.

I went to fight to keep this country safe from
ravages of war..
She complained life’s been ugly in the USA for
years?
Poor soul, needs to visit Arlington, all the dead
bodies and stop her dang selfish tears!
She lives free of war, has freedom, what does she
want.more?

The enemy is always at America’s gate!
Now, with only one leg, I can no longer or dance or run.
But to sing “Give Peace a Chance” is just plain wrong..
As many countries do not love America,
Their hearts full of jealousy and hate..

Maybe she should study history..not poetry!
As to the goodness of America …she lives
in the dark.
The teaching of America, as evil, is chilling
and so ignorantly stark
All who fought, or died, or lost limbs, in humble gallantry.

…….Would she..do that for me?………..

But, I’d be glad to meet her in the Park!
And show her pictures of the many friends I lost.
They never knew her …they died for her and paid the cost.
Sitting there, she, so safe and smug, penning anti-American
poetry, with a soul that’s unloving empty and dark!

Emotive, very unusual but can be true, many anti-Americans. I too just wrote a U-word poem about PTSD. Hispanics also go to war for America's freedom, and come back limbless; I know of many from history! Love this, like you, I am proud to be American, Pangie.

Dear Ayana, veterans, as you know come from all races, ethnicities, religions..I will check out your poem. I think about the families of those who never come back, as well as those with PTSD or missing limbs and burnt faces. It warms my heart! There is a missing bet in a wheelchair in Hawaii. Probably more than one How horrific, glad you are a sister patriot! I love Lee Greenwood’s song. “Proud to be an American”. Far too many non-Americans …snub their nose at the USA! (Growl) Unnecessary and mean. You are a dear! Hugs, Pangie

Funny, Bob, I thought it was worthy of a POTD, also. But I do not think patriotism ranks high here.and it was pertinent to these times.that’s OK.the past counts more here than the present. Sorry I was late in response. See my response to Joe, above, mas to why.thank you for FAVING this.iknow you understand the value of service!! Pangie

We don’t do enough for our veterans. They sacrifice everything for us. What a beautiful moving poem.

Elena, No we do not, worse…we throw them out of hotels and give their hotels and allow illegals to live in them. We should try that in an Arab country. Wr might get beheaded. We could not even get into an Arab country or any other with no passport! Vets get the shaft or the grave. Or left as MIA’s. So much for education in the USA, Pangie

Pangie this is a heartfelt and sad. How anyone can have such a lack of understanding and compassion for our fallen Heroes is pathetic. I will leave it at that. Thank you for being a champion for out heroes who have risked it all for us and still do till this day. God bless you for sharing this...

Micheal. Respect for veterans and human life starts in the homes…kids in schools no longer learn to honor the USA. I doubt they ever have a Vet coming to talk to kids.most people here were not alive during WW2, Or Korea. Doubtful they know Jack about the Holocaust! We have many MIA’s all over the world, in addition And the beat goes on. You also get a Medal of Honor. For relying.and I hold you in highest regard, you have a heart that care, grateful for a pioet like you Haikus will never protect us from death..nor will poetry.. it takes the willingness of a real human being to die, protecting his country. Thank you* you and Gershon have blessed me with bright hope. Pamgie

Yup. Irony of ironies. Those soldiers died, so that this poetess could pen her poison. Go figure...

Thank. You for your clarity and bright response, Gershon. You put sunshine in my happiness cup. May your week be blessed….long noses, LOL. I hope the Conservatives, here are proud of themselves for having no compassion….I won’t remove it, if I did, I would be a loser. If I wrote a list poem of what’s in my closet, that writing flies? Of course. Proud to be anAmerican! “ and I won’t forget the mem who died, who gave their life for me” Lee Greenwood” Pangie

Such a shame: A well-written poem, not at all right-wing, and Soupers run from it as if it were a new strain of COVID. Go figure. Wait 'til that soldier gets his wings upstairs. He'll fly right by all the whiners, as they'll get extra-long noses and won't be able to balance very well...

I don’t go figure. Americans are willing to be led by the nose. Into being Communists. They are passive, mutes! Freedom jeans nothing to them. There are veterans on this site.. I thank them for serving..
