Mermaid Most Fair
If I could be a fanciful being, I think I would be,
a mermaid, that lived among the creatures in the sea.
To have flowing red hair, that everyone could spy,
when I was out and about, swimming by.
My tail, the long fish-like part of me,
an iridescent, aqua blue, color of the sea.
I would wear jewels from treasures buried deep.
Upon wrecked ships, lying forever in sleep.
I would swim swiftly beside the whales,
making sure to stay far from their tails.
I would aid all sealife that needed me.
To help a sailor, who may be lost at sea.
If I would get weary, I would grab a fin,
of a playful, friendly dolphin to pull me in.
I would worry about fishing nets I would find,
warning all my ocean friends to keep in mind.
To be known in "Atlantis", if it is really there.
As a special friend, who was a mermaid most fair.
Why would I want this fantasy to be?
So I could live my life in the beautiful sea.
