Four years ago I had the feel
To write a poem with eagerness and zeal
Of a time I felt that special urge
To choose each word I felt my passion surge
The contest was set for me to converge
With winners intact not to be diverged
Honorable mention was my big score
Entered again with the same theme in mind
Received first place with a slight change in kind
When I sought new words my talent improved
I know what to do when I get an H.M.
My pen transforms into a diadem
all placements are good no matter how old
Second themes written can turn into gold
