Memories of Something Old

I happened to see your face today
as I was walking on Broadway
I knew it was you even so far away
you never even turned to look my way
you continued onward with no delay
remembering when we were such good friends
but now I know it's surely won't mend
of something great those years ago
when we were young and now we're old
isn't it funny the way things end
and all over a card that I didn't send
I still have the card still packed away
and hoped to have sent it to you one day
but now I know that wouldn't be right
so I'll hold on to it with all of my might
and maybe someday who should know
you'll finally believe just what you were told.
