Memorable Breezes

It's those hot southern summer days filled with lots of outdoor work, sun, and humidity that I will never forget. Although they are rather unforgettable but not at all memorable. Air conditioning did not live there, but electric fans blew loudly through the sweaty night. Surely the sun's heatwaves often felt like microwaves on both the just and the unjust, but there were those fortunate enough to possess a good share of 'creature comforts'. Unfortunately, we were not among them. Such breeze-starved conditions beg to be easily forgettable tortures of yesteryears. On far too few occasions, just before a rainstorm, a cool breeze flew our way, and just before the bright and deep blue skies turned grey, in our minds, God's angels had defeated the demons of gloom, and heaven had invaded hell with memorable breezes. And now, methinks my brain is departmentalized and programmed for memories of those cool breezes of summer where only the fittest survived the terrorizing sweat and tears. By God's grace, I survived but some fainted, and the rest got fed up, quit, and moved away. 01282018 PS Contest, One In Five, Joseph May; Theme chose: Memories On The Breeze; 4P
