Notes About The Poem

Written for the contest "Memento on the Moon" Sponsored by Suzette Richards...

Memento on the Moon

I blow smoke of dreams to daffodil streams,
beneath the sky, engrossed in love’s last sigh,
while this heart quivers, drunk on astral fever,
in the kohl-lined arms of the cold midnight,
kissing my soul in silver slivers…

O velveteen warrior, allow my gaze to trace lifelines~
sailing interstellar seas of electric stars
                     wrapped in whimsical wisps,
to leave our closing phrase on the lips of moon-haze,
as I breathe the silk of Luna’s wistful breeze~
drawn from the rosy dusk of his restless repose...

And this pearl ~ the nebulous clarity ~
   emblazoned in pixelated poetry,
shall be the timeless spark of twin flames,
amidst the pull of bruised-blue silence…

A beautifully crafted poem with memorable lines such as ‘to leave our closing phrase on the lips of moon-haze'. Your evocative lines shine, especially in the final stanza. Thank you for your support in this contest where I called for a Notional Ekphrasis, Ink.

Dearest Inky.Wow, this is absolutely dreamy and soul-stirring! Your imagery flows like a cosmic lullaby—soft, deep, and full of emotion. I felt like I was drifting through galaxies made of silk and stardust. The “silver slivers,” “velveteen warrior,” and “bruised-blue silence” are especially magical lines. You have such a beautiful way of blending the celestial with the deeply personal. Loved every word!...Hugs

Wow, such a magnificent poem explores love, desire, and cosmic connection using imagery from dreams, nature, and the universe, dearest Ink. It evokes strong emotions and shows love as magnificent and ephemeral, leaving a longing for connection. The topic explores the metaphysical dynamic of sentiments and the vastness of the cosmos, suggesting love transcends time and space. The descriptive language uses vivid images and analogies. Phrases like "smoke of dreams" and "velveteen warrior" immerse the reader in passion. Alliteration ("whimsical wisps") and assonance make the poetry melodic and lyrical. Personification is also evident in "kissing my soul" and "Luna's wistful breeze," which humanize natural events and increase emotion. The juxtaposition of heavenly and earthly imagery emphasizes love and the universe. To my fave. Warm hugs

That's the only kind of memento that should be left on the moon... phrases of her beauty from our lips to her.
