Melting Snowmen
March pelts melting snowmen with freezing rain,
as black ice coats near impassable roads.
And driving on frozen streets that can't drain;
triggered by potholes; frustration explodes.
I love the feel of freshly fallen snow,
Nature's white duvet of soft-snowy down.
Yet, upon Spring's arrival, warm winds blow,
transforming the ground to a muddy brown.
Spring melts river ice once safe to walk on;
even patches in the shade can't escape.
And Winter's covering will soon be gone;
unveiling a bleak and barren landscape.
Spring, no doubt, is a beautiful bloomer;
but She also has a sense of humor.
