Melancholy Memory

That look in his eyes
                 Clouded by memories
             His grandchild before him
                         His jewel

                    Her violin sings
              He’s reliving his dream
A poor boy with no chance
                       Heartbroken

                    His request a plea
              “I will pay for lessons
Just let her play for me
                        I beg you”

                    Piano aside
               Violin rhapsodies
             Transported to heaven
                     His tears flow

                   Melancholy eyes
                The violin caressed
              Fingers tired and worn
                   Dreams reborn

An eerie memory... but with a happy ending it seems. I found the constraints hard to work with in this contest, but it was interesting to reminisce in this "fragmented like fashion". This appealed to my musical side... aww to play the piano :)

I play....sort of! :) No...I can get by playing for church. I don't practice though. Yes...the constraints were tough, but I'm pushing myself to spread my wings and try anything once...in the realm of poetry, that is! ;) My Dad never got over the desire to play the violin. My daughter plays and she has real talent, but needs motivation. It is hard to have to live up to someone else's dream. Breaks my heart.
