Meet the Natural Disasters
My name is Lightning.
I like to put on light shows
As I travel with Thunder,
Around the world with rainstorms.
Though I am fantastic to watch,
I can also be deadly,
Cause minor damage to buildings and trees,
And sometimes I start fires.
My name is Tornado.
What I do on land
My brother Hurricane
Does on the water.
Using very strong winds,
As I go around in circles,
I destroy everything in my path
Until I have no strength left.
My name is Flood.
I show up when man-made
Water holding structures break
Or rivers overflow their banks.
I can wash away homes,
Or leave them buried in mud,
Causing a lot of damage
Which man is forced to clean up.
My name is Earthquake.
No one knows when I’ll strike,
But sometimes I do give some signs
Before I really shake things up.
I can cause minor damage
Or destroy many structures
Leaving many people homeless
Until their homes can be rebuilt.
My name is Volcano.
I’ve been known to cause floods,
Shake the ground and smoke
Before I blow my top.
Then when I can no longer hold back,
I explode spewing out hot lava
Destroying everything in the lava’s path
And covering it up with volcanic ash.
