Meet Me Under the Mistletoe

Meet me under the mistletoe
tilt your face up
and whisper in my ear.
“You’re the only one I want.”
Lean in closer
and pucker up,
let our lips entwine
for even a brief second.
Meet me under that mistletoe,
make my dreams come true.

Hello Ron, I have never seen a mistletoe. I am thinking there must have been many couples under the mistletoe to kissing. My friend. Enjoy your day. /Darlene/

Hello Ron, question: If a woman stood under the mistletoe alone, would a gentleman come along to kiss the woman? Or was it just for couples? the mistletoe came from Norway! i am surprised to know this. I never thought it woujld come from Norway. Who ate the berries? I wonder if the berries tst3d like c herries. This is a very interesting knowledge. My cfriend, enjoy your evening. /Darlene/

Hi Darlene, Mistletoe is originally from Norway, found in the late 18th century, it is a parasitic plant that has red berries, around 1820 or so it became a tradition to hang a sprig in a doorway or entrance during the holidays and each red berry signified a kiss a girl might get from a gentleman, when the berries were all gone, the privilege was gone as well. The tradition spread worldwide but meaning has been quite diluted these days and real mistletoe is hard to find. It was a fun tradition when I was a young southern gentleman. I'm glad you enjoyed the poem though! Merry Christmas! Ron
