The Garden Of God

Meet Me At Heaven's Gate

Our love . . . a forevermore love, in my heart it will always flow; even though you have gone above. Darling, I am full of sorrow, oh, why, why did you have to go; will visit your tomb tomorrow. Visions come to me of your kiss; as I walk past tombs row on row, oh, your lips gave me such sweet bliss. In my night dreams I see your face, you come to me as a shadow; and my fingers caress and trace. I am shattered and heartbroken, my soul is weeping, weeping woe; oh, many words left unspoken. I stayed with you till the last breath, and will come in sun, rain, and snow; for this true love will survive death. Darling, meet me at heaven's gate, when for my soul dark death will crow; but years perhaps will be our wait.

Congratulations on your winning work in Joanna's contest. Way to go. I can come closer to understanding your grief, Constance now since my husband passed last year. Sara K.

Dear Constance, Reading your poem feels like walking alongside you through that graveyard. Such a deep truth about how grief actually works.. Acknowledging the long, perhaps weary wait of the years ahead feels incredibly honest. It isn't a fairy tale; it’s a heavy, resilient kind of hope. It shows a love that refuses to quit, even when it's forced to change shape. Blessings, Daniel
