Me For Who I Am

See me for who I am.

Don’t see me as my sister,
I’m not her.

Don’t see me as a child,
I’ve grown up.

You think I never talk,
Listen a little harder.

You think I never get in trouble,
Everybody snaps.
Nobody’s perfect.

Don’t see me as someone I could become,
See me as I am now.

Forget the person you knew all those years ago,
I’m different and changed,
I’ve learned.

See me for who I am,
Not what I show you,
See all of me and my depths of character,
See me for who I am.

Haxer, what a terrific first post! Welcome to Poetry Soup. This one shows the depth of your character, and your truth, and your perspective in a fine way indeed. I am anxiously awaiting your second poem.
