Maybe There Could Be You and I
With every breath now comes a thought of you,
Realizing that after countless misses,
It has always been what it was,
That all this time it should have been us,
I may not remember much of your smile,
I know that it has been quite a while,
But it feels so wrong to even deny,
That maybe just maybe there could be you and I.
I never wanted you to say anything,
Or expected there could be something,
I just know that you make my life a little simpler,
And bring hope of a love that lasts forever,
With so many stories that come to an end,
And too many hearts prefer to pretend,
All I want to do is slow down where you are,
To pick up scattered pieces of my life,
Because I feel that with you,
The story I have been longing for would come true.
