maybe in a dream

I was not ready to say goodbye
when you left last night
without a kiss

cheeks wet with tears
lips wet with liquor
I whisked myself away
drowning until dreaming

dreaming of you
time dilation was so intense
as to make me feel upon waking
as if I had been asleep for days

too often I get confused
between what I dream
and what is real - flux

the flux of fulfillment
and disappointment
is the substance of Future -
the taste of both familiar
from journeys past

I think I have been here before

maybe in a dream
