May the Angels Whisper You Goodnight

In the dampness of those unslept sheets I find my solace between the linear moments when you held my breath and the last time we said goodbye: Awakened by the thunder every calm fiber goes dormant as I toss and turn searching for the memory of your warm body The rain slips easily from glass to ledge and so do my tears; Life with all its poignancy, cannot reach me here beneath thick blankets of denial. As I pretend the night away death does not exist, nor does it live here, anymore In the dampness of those unslept sheets I find my solace through poetry in flight, although I leave it to the angels, to whisper you, goodnight !

Your poetry has excellent syntax, which you've put to excellent use in terms of imagery and feeling. What an emotional poem. Congratulations on your win, Rose

Gosh dear Rose this absolutely beautiful, heart rendering poem grabbed me from start to the last poetic word. What an impact. Even the wonderful title makes me want to shed tears. Your latest creation is divine. ‘The rain slips easily from glass to ledge and so do my tears’ I, like so many, can relate to this. Full of loss, heartbreak, denial and trying to find solace through all the grief. Those last four lines - tissues please! ‘ I’ll leave it to the angels’.

Your immense talent is on full display here because, like Sara, this feels very, very real and drawn from experience although fiction. This greatly touched me so it has to be a fave for me too! Thank you for this poignant read. Love and hugs xx

Dear Aurore, yes we can use an Angel or two or many, at our side, I do believe you have a special one from birth that never left your side for one minute, so good to make your acquaintance, :)

lovely read. Brought back memories of a very special person. When stepping from the ledge of blossom, we are given wings...and the untethered soul soars for eternity. We learn to live despite....live without...but never gone from within.

I take it you lost a son if you did, my heart bleeds for you Joe, no greater pain for a parent. Thank God we got God's promises of reunion with our loved ones, something to live towards dear friend :)
