Andrea Dietrich Poet Quatrain

May Showers

Showers April brought to us -
showers more than sun,
and I just kept wondering
when they would be done!

May arrived and in the sky,
clouds were dark with rain.
Then it even snowed a bit.
Nature seemed insane!

My poor roses on the bush,
still they haven’t bloomed.
Yet today the sun came out,
so they are not doomed.

Just a few more sunny days -
I might see flowers.
Mother Nature, please, for now,
delay May showers.

Darren White May 7, 2017 at 3:28 AM Trochee is the meter, the point of stress, the accent in rhyme, just like Iamb, Anapest, Dactyl and so on. You have written a quatrain in trochee, I bow for you because that is not easy :) Greek and Arabic poetics and meter are my speciality, so I honestly love this!
