May 6: Painting

alone
I am home
painting
I promised you
I would not panic
my lust for color
now painstakingly clear
I am frantic
the subtle hum
of the wind mixed with the waves
it befriends me
I
I paint for protection
to
to show mercy
not for perfection
but for grace
Grace still, find me
on the spectrum of lavenders
capture this
within shades of darker blues and rich grays
lost
in the sunshine
I am captivated
not anxious
nor gasping for air
nor weeping
nor drowning

Chante, this is a fine poem that I relate to very well. The imagery you use with regard to losing oneself in painting is wonderful. Thank you for writing it. It inspires me to lose myself in the art much more than I do.
