Eight Words 2 Poetry Contest - Joseph May
Lilacs, Weary, Misty, Guitar, Cajole, Sigh, Slumber, Etching
-------------------------------------------------
Quote: “A man sees in the world what he carries in his heart.”
- Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
-------------------------------------------------
One such spring, away from his muse
WEARY night, jaded SLUMBER blues
every other color looked grey
every other flower looked hay
betrayal sadness choked like noose

his MISTY eyes tried to confuse
his heart stabbed with brutal refuse
a tear not shed that heartless day
one such spring day

wasted, he sat under the spruce
LILACS blooms had such little use
to CAJOLE him to GUITAR play
he tried ETCHING letters away
softly sighed a SIGH of excuse
one such spring day

Wow! Gorgeous poem you've written here my dear poet friend thriveni. Rondeau is one of the hardest types of poem for me to write but you did it excellently with ease in a melancholic sense of beauty using those required words. So creative you are. A winner for me. Thanks a lot for sharing. I loved it and enjoyed a lot. God bless you always and your writings. Hugs

Hi Thriveni, I find that you have cleverly used the words given to script a poem of great poignance. The quote is so meaningful and right and his mental mood and his feeling of desolation and despair are masterfully reflected in what he sees around. I am sure this is going to be placed high. All the Best.

you are so gentle dear poet, may God help all those sad dejected hearts. your comment reminded me one saying in our language -meaning "it is ok when you cry and the world is laughing, but it is unbearable if you laugh when the world is crying" thank you for the visit dear friend. stay blessed, cheers.

Spring feels bleak without one's muse. Desolation, the opposite of Spring's promise. Very effective, to me. There seems truth in that quote. What one sees on the outside is a mirror of one's inside.

I am so very glad to know your thoughts dear poet friend, you liked the quote, how I wish to read Goethe again. I feel sad that I cannot recall quickly and effectively such sayings. Life is made easy by such great men, only we don't know to employ such truths, don't you agree? Thank you. your comment sets me to think more. happy day dear friend.
