Master Craftsman

This broken vessel leaked its bitter bile
from every spider crack of spiraling webs
damaged by a lover of careless means

refurbished by the hands of a master craftsman
who learned his trade in lonely liquid years of blackness
filled with empty bottles of blame

damp darkness dripping from his eyes
he honed his craft through sleepless nights
of reflection to learn the art of renewal
as he filled each crack with memories
then covered them in blown dust
from fool's gold
until he could forgive himself
and give his heart a renewed bounty of beauty

Masterfully written Frederic. Overflowing with amazing, inventive images and language. You are so right, forgiveness is a hard won process. Congratulations on your win. Blessings and best wishes.

Congrats! Thanks for sharing this... I'm delighted especially with your last two lines: "until he could forgive himself and give his heart a renewed bounty of beauty." God bless you.

Such a nice and thoughtful comment Vienna. Reminds me of the one that got lost in cyberspace that I made on your poem.

Frederic.. Hauntingly beautiful. I love he honed his craft through sleepless nights of reflection and learned the art of renewal as he filled each crack with memories. It feels so real ... I love it. All the best to you, Susan :)
