Masquerade

i'm so tempted to call out your name but you have seven hearts on a card in your made-up game you put your pretty mask on your face part time you tell lies when you get asked if you ever feel high you spend your time alone and pretend you're having fun you think you're so smart, but they think you're so dumb leave your house tell your friends you're on your way this time you're gonna be scared out of your god-damned mind they don't know who you are, but they think they do you can't talk, you can't talk like you used to i don't want to be your role model i don't want you to do what i've done you're gonna hurt them all in time don't conform to their idea of fun i'm so frustrated you're so opaque i'm in a mystery machine and i'm ready to scream walk right by, tell them "dude, are you ready for this? this time i'm gonna sing and she's gonna hear the choking, the shaking, the raspy sound, the touch i can't feel, i can't feel like i used to "you don't want to be my role model you don't want me to do what you've done i'm gonna hurt them all in time i'll conform to their idea of fun" i love the way you look at me i love the way you look at me i love the way you look at me i love your masquerade
