Masquerade
I can only hear the irresistible rhythm of your voice as
You look at me, smile, then turn to another's attention.
I sit and wonder what keeps me here, at your service,
With no pleasure to me..only discontent towards you
And your behavior...
Strangely enough I cannot move or take my eyes off you.
My ears are overflowing with trifle conversation and
My eyes sees your every hint of flirtatious gestures
While you lean in to say something charming, I'm sure.
I want to run...
I ask myself, why do you bring me to these masquerades
Of pretentious people whose only intentions are
To ravish you with their bodies?..mindless of any meaning.
I watch the show as if it were on a huge screen
In a dark theatre...
As I rise slowly and prepare to depart from this circus of these
Incredibly hideous and obviously heartless people,
I realize..I am the one who does not belong here.
In your minds you appear to be normal lusting humans.
I feel your hand...
You take my hand and kneel as if one were to propose,
I sit before my legs have the chance to give out on me.
Your lips, so moist, touch my hand as you look up and smile
But your eyes wander even then while holding my hand.
I am a lady!...
Gently slipping my hand from yours, I stand, you barely notice
Since your mind is consumed like a beast on the prowl.
You'll not have me on your arm for your next presentation.
When I turned to walk away I knew you were already gone.
I did not look back...
I "briefly" forgot I am a lady, then I walked away...
