Notes About The Poem

The state of the affairs our country is in would be a "nightmare" to Martin Luther King.

Martin Luther King's Nightmare

Blazing
                  Razing
                  Hazing
                  Fazing

Anarchy on a blazing, razing course
Driven by a hazing, fazing force.

Paulette, this is an incisive commentary on current trends towards anarchy in the US. I think Dr King would be very disappointed that a culture of violence and rioting seems to have taken over his ideals of non-violent activism. You did this form justice with your four carefully chosen rhyming words that suit this message perfectly. I'm trying to write my first Tyburn and I came to yours as a model. Well done! ~ John

Indeed, Dr. King rebuked violence. His mantra was about peace. Thank you for your comments~I am glad I was able to convey the depth of the tragedy of Dr. King's dream. A dream that has transformed into a nightmare for all of humankind. Cheers, Paulette
