Marathon of Demons

“MARATHON OF DEMONS”

here I am again standing with
the lonely, the shattered,
the children of the night.
the possibilities are gone,
the building of the
structures is gone. Gould for
the moment is silent, the
demons of paranoia silenced,
the hope to hear I love you
too, silenced. just run
through this Hell Eddie, run
through it and you’ll look
back and laugh just like all
those other times you did.
stay awake until you see what
isn’t there, walk the city
until you can’t feel your
legs anymore. avoid the
crowds and find the darkest
of corners for your isolation
at night, the gods will watch
over you. no one can
understand why the small
amount of money in your
pocket is worth a thousand.
the nights will remember the
smoke from your cigarettes;
the drink will enslave your
pain and the air from the
midnight breeze will soothe
your insanity.
your ass is safe on the
streets but never forget,
they are the streets for a
reason. you must watch each
step out in the playground,
it could be a pleasure or
your last. each step, like
each choice, will alter the
tears you cry.
