Mantra

"We must treat with love those whom God has placed in our path"
                          --Linda Hunt, as Billy Kwan
"And, so it begins..."
    says Linda Hunt, an actress
playing a man who is also
a dwarf in "The Year of Living
Dangerously", not leaping
tall buildings in a single
bound, just a miniature
'man for all seasons'
thrown from a window
for political reasons.
Blood and gore on a Jakarta
street is not a neat
resolution in this shadow-
play we call life. Shadows
are cast when choices
appear -- to honor, (or not
out of fear it costs dear).
What price sacrifice? If
you have no handle, no clue,
no buzz-- intone the name
of the one who does: Billy
Kwan, Billy Kwan... then
blow out your candle.

Hi, Nola. I must see the picture, though, lately, I hate "blood and gore," the constant reminder of the sort of world we live in. Love, Dave

Wow! Now I have to see this movie, Nola. It's often shameful the way we treat others, and I'm wondering what the "political reasons" were for killing this poor man. Linda Hunt is truly an outstanding actress. Love, Carolyn
