Mantis Religiosa

There she was , perched upon the upper stalk of the echinacea flower cone Leaning left then right in upright posture, yet stationary with fore arms folded, the praying mantis once believed to be paranormal preying in ambush, ultimate femme fatale. The head, the eyes strained forward stretching to catch a tantalizing morsel when the cardinal swooped down and flew off with her in its beak to feed the fledglings in her nest they prayed most thankful for the feast.
