Mankind

Has any other species been so keen to perfect an aptitude to destroy itself? Somehow I think not, for nature's way appears to sway towards self preservation. In a world where only the strong survive, the strength of the independent mind bears the burden of all mankind.

I came here after reading Edward's blog. Thanks for the tip! Twain said, "Man is the only animal that blushes. Or needs to." I value your independent mind, Pidge. Keep it up. ~ John

Thank you for checking it out. I like that quote! I have so much I want to say to thank you but my usual brevity escapes me, honoured and humbled, xomo

I really liked this! Mankind after all is a very complex word, its made up of 2 words, one being Mank and the other Ind, I still haven't figured it all out!!!

Actually, "Mank Ind" would be a great name for a hard core poetry band!

Perhaps we'd be less self-destructive if we were womankind! Love this Maureen, keep on speaking you!

Oh I do so agree Maureen. We are so very self destructive and we are trying to take the entire world with us. So many times I have said that Mankind in an effort to improve our way of life has taken so much from nature and not given anything back that we are about to "improve" ourselves into extinction. A great write my friend. From 1 to 7 this is a 10. God Bless, JB

Indeed, the only species that so completely adapts its environment instead of adapting to it. Our success is our greatest failure, our vision, our blindness. And as you touched on, cultures which embrace the natural ways have been squashed in the name of "progress". sigh.

There is a lot of truth in your write...too many are worried about being number one they lose sight of the reasons to live.

Unfortunately, our aptitude to destroy goes beyond ourselves . . . we, weak and strong, bear the burden of all living creatures. Amitiés
