Man To Man
Like cordite fumes through the air unseen
The infamy flicks its diabolic tongue
Curdled in the throat and left a gangrene
Lung suffocating life. And all eras stung
By access to sterling tables of greed
Forget the bodies bloated among the weed
Their shocked eyes staring at disbelief
That human heart could boil such grief.
Was it only greed? Was it merely fear
Of empty caravans and rife disease?
The traders trampling the landscape drear
Tearing away their innocense and ease,
Bringing them face to face with the worst of man.
O angels believe and tremble in their plan
But the O cruel heart, the dismal acts, the wan
History of earth's cruelity ere capitalism began
A succubus on Africa's children that left none
To perpetuate its civilize glory, that it gave
The world freely ... that gave it its grave.
