The Whiskey Taster’s Flavor Guide

mama, there are monsters in my head

Like you, I too once entertained the childish theology of monsters beneath the bed.
Only, where you slept with your face toward the door, praying for survival, I turned my back to the darkness, because I did not care whether it killed me—
for I did not fear being destroyed when I was already tormented by the violence within my mind.

Very provocative images and symbols, Victoria. Unfortunately, childhood isn't always rosy. Thanks for participating in my contest. Congratulations!

Dear Victoria, Some children find the monsters in their bed. I would say beautifully delivered, but nothing about a child having monsters in their bed - can be beautifully written. To survive such atrocity, a child goes within their mind to places more beautiful they can find escape, safety and deliverance. There are other monsters of course found in the adults around you when you are young (some remain into adult years). I will give you this accolade, Strongly written. And Love.
