Notes About The Poem

Premiere Contest Winner''Making a Gem Out of Garbage''

I gather up each word, each thrown away,
putting my poetry back together;
words "thrown" to wither and decay,
     this garbage- I love forever.
       My poems called worthless,
       my poems so breathless;
       poems never-   wordless,
                  making a gem out of garbage;
        is my endeavor.
          My pen will bleed with my dark surrender,
writing my poems like a rose bouquet;
praying this sad pain will leave someday,
I gather up each word, each thrown away;
                and weep- making a gem out of garbage.

Broken Wings, congratulations on another Trophy First Place win. Your words are never 'garbage' but you chose an amazing way to create an idiom for the contest. 7 Hugs, Sandra

While I don't consider any word, "garbage," I love the way you formed this sparkling gem, B. Wings. ;-)

Truly a work of art in this poem. This fit the theme perfectly by flowing seamlessly from the literal process to the figurative meaning of your idiom. Your ability to write is simply amazing. Congrats on your 1st place win in the Create an Idiom contest!

Love what you created here Constance - i can't get my head round creating a new idiom so probably won't enter - like the use of 'garbage' especially as we have all had poems trashed too and some may consider I write trash lol:-) hugs jan xx
