Making a Difference
We are born naked with nothing but an empty mind
To grow, and be filled with our wants and needs
As our peers urge us to acquire the right things
The material possessions that make us one with them
Not realizing as the years unfold that what matters
Is how you make others’ lives better by being there?
Caring if they are happy, giving them companionship
Making them laugh to momentarily ease their pain
We can only be responsible for the souls we touch
And if by making one person smile, and feel loved
Then we have made our small place in time better
For having been there, to make a difference.
