Notes About The Poem

Magic Blooms

Magic Blooms
of paint and paper...

You are still here.
I know it,
and feel it all the time.
Today,
I see it clearly.
A small card,
found in your desk.
To me...
Both written and signed
months before you left.
You knew you were leaving.
How did you know,
(tears... whispered...) how?

The way I would feel,
the things that I would need.
What would make my day,
bearable, and knowing too,
what would break it apart.

A giving tree full of love,
popped up from kirigami,
like a lovingly planted warm embrace,
that surrounds and binds me...
to the here and now,
and gives me strength,
to live until then.

kirigami, (fashioned, folded and cut paper)

You surprised me with the composition of these 'magic blooms' -- and a delightful surprise it is. A wonderful poem, Ann. ~ Tears of Joy (too), Gershon

It is a moment captured. My dear friend's wife died a while back now. He found a card in her desk today. He showed it to me . She had prewritten it. She died of cancer... It was beautiful... :( and so so very sad.. hugs... Ann
