Made You Look You Dirty Crook

“Made you look you dirty crook!” And all those colourful phrases Have vanished from our lexicon They now belong to the ages! “Keep your nose to the grindstone!” Is another from way back when So sad they've all but disappeared Wish they could go back again! Since the dawn of the computer age We speak in a different fashion Conversing in very short sentences Using acronyms without much passion! We now seem to have lost the ability To have an intelligent conversation Emailing, texting, or some such device Or some other glitzy presentation! I really long for those simpler days When people took time to listen And all the world seemed friendlier Now feels like something's missing! A re-post!

Hi Jack a sad piece I have almost given up on conversation. Refuse to own one of those multi purpose talk bots.

It might be a re-post but it is still a spectacular write, I can see why you chose it to post again! I certainly enjoyed reading your delightful poem this morning! You have delighted me to the fullest by your lexicon comments and the ways of the future...that is what we have to look forward to, more craziness! What a grandiose piece you have written here Jackson! Great work!!

Nice piece Jack... Completely agree with the sentiment.. i find it a little baffling when someone says they dont have time to call but will send a series of 8 or ten texts instead. not sure I see where they saved the time.... enjoyed the read...

Like your comment... "when someone says they dont have time to call but will send a series of 8 or ten texts instead" As Susan said, "how ironic" Thank you Joseph!!!

Hi Jack, I love the nostalgia for the good ole days in your poem! I agree that communication is quite impersonal these days. What's missing is the inflection and soul in the human voice and the eyes of someone we're conversing with. Thank you for highlighting the fading art of face to face interaction :) (how ironic lol!)
