Made Up Mind
If the only reason I rejoice
is that God has made this day today
its my resolve, my chosen choice
that I be glad in Him this way.
How can I be downcast when I know
that certain joy comes in the morning
the storms of yesterday blown over
and with the sun, new mercies dawning?
If my only reason to do good
is that my God is good to me
then this is my calling and my cause,
to reveal His nature for all to see.
What higher honour
then to give Him glory,
what better mindset
then the Lord set before me?
If my only reason to pursue Him
is that to do His will in all things
then even my will to be submitted
and my soul to praise the King of all kings.
For only to enter at His gate
and only to dwell within His courts
is healing for the nations and joy for the mourning
whom always His love and justice have sought.
If we would hear Him, we would be admonished
if we would listen, our city restored
so let us gather together to worship
before the Almighty, forever our Lord.
Leave behind your idols, cast them off from you
take no pleasure in wickedness, and God shall make all things new.
