lying on the beach

eating an ice cream
telling oneself life is sweet
lying on the beach

looking at the yachts
believing they are in reach
lying on the beach

watching the seagulls
having little accidents
lying on the beach

see the stranded whales
assuming they missed the tide
lying on the beach

getting a suntan
thinking it comes at no cost
lying on the beach

David, a visually, sensual imagist serenyu treat for me,profoundly meaningful with the double meaning of “lying,” which word in all very, very well.Your works inspiring my weekend! Thank you for writing and sharing! Hugs, sally

Thanks again Sally, indeed a double meaning in each Senryu, with one common denominator (lying on the beach) was a fun one to ponder myself whilst writing, I’m delighted in some way my work inspired your weekend, cheers David

Senryus get a point across in a simple brief way, l'll start there. One & five state we lie to ourselves. Two has imagery & perspective. Three carefully put! (bird poop or shit:)lol. Four I think of plastic sea trash inside whales. Cheers to deep thoughts & class act senryu's

Excellent observations Anaya, I think I put a little lie into all of them, but not all readily apparent to everyone at the same time, our perspectives change as we go through life, mine certainly did anyway, thanks so much, cheers David

High tide would prevent so much lying on the beach. Let’s blame it on the moon. No more stranded Whales… problem solved. Very nice setup, David.

Yay let’s all have that ice cream and stop lying to ourselves, life’s all about moments after all, I’d no idea where this one would lead, certainly not back to the ice cream :)

Dilly and I did a bit of chatting earlier today and we are on the same page regarding many issues. With a higher tide seagulls will drop their loads in the sea. That solves problem #2. A yacht is not a necessity and life is not always sweet. No amount of lying on the beach will alter that. Suntans are overrated. Let’s enjoy what is sweet and have another ice cream.

True Lin, high tide might prevent one type of lying on the beach, the other more dubious type, is a little bit more difficult to eradicate, Dilly below is sending out good vibes to the whales as we speak lol! Cheers David

I like how each of your senryus carry a lesson, or at least a commentary. I suppose that's what good senryus are meant to accomplish, right? Meantime, I recommend no less than SPF 50

It’s probably best to buy a bottle of fake tan, I agree factor 50 sounds about right, thanks for the visit, cheers David
