Lurking Teardrops

Nowadays they come to me very frequently. Sneaking through the busy morning hour, knocking at the silence of midnight, they try to invade my mind and get hold of me. I run away from them. The last night. Dimly lit Emergency ward. Constant dripping of chemo. Your pale face. Daddy, you kissed my forehead, "Grow up my son, grow up." How much I have to grow up dad before I can tread on the corpses of sorrow carelessly? How far should I make my heart heartless so that I can play with all my pain? Before you could tell you stopped.... never to wake up again. The lurking tear drops.... they come to me nowadays very frequently. ====================

YOu are a master of the "right ending." I love how you make sure to finish with EFFECT! It's so essential to a good poem. Also, was glad to figure out from this one what your gender is. I honestly can't tell by the names here sometimes if I am reading a man's poetry or a woman's. SAd story very well told. LUv, Andrea

oh wow-- I found this really moving, kashinath-- your title alone is quite descriptive and I can definitely feel that pain and sadness--that last stanza of yours really stuck with me-- thanks for sharing this-- nikko :)
