Loyalty-----And----Royalty---Required
LOYALTY AND ROYALTY REQUIRED
It was castle building time
A home for a charming prince
and a princess who was sometimes aloof
Time for royalty to have a roof
A ceiling should the sky fall in
Or if a falling star fell on them t’would be a sin
And they could keep that celestial sign in a jug with a top of well forged tin
To keep that keepsake in
But as a falling star who has no wings to fly
The prince and princess had need of a castle built castle high
So those peasants built all the walls brick by mortared brick
Because it was time to build a castle grand
For the rulers of a pleasant land
Wherein no one required an election or a vote
They were all too busy creating the castle’s mote
Where great lizards will seek pray and guard the pair quite well
And of course on top of the spire was a single silver bell
It tolled to tell the people they had all done well
But the very next morning before the mortar had set
It rained down as if to say “for eons everything here will be wet”
And then the cracks started to crumble
And bricks began to tumble
As the bell and spire sliced the air and both to the ground fell
And looking back now, the people hadn’t done so very well
And thusly was gone what many had built
While the townsfolk felt only unwarranted guilt
Because the princess left her once princely domain
Which left the prince in pretty much perpetual pain
The habitants recall before the rains came and it was surely and certainly sublime
When the town’s folk gathered up what they required because it had been castle building time
