Loves Fade

Loves Fade Shall I compare love to a fading rose? Fair petals lacking color fall away Leaving a thorny stem to stick the heart. Forever locked away in yesterday. Amidst the fray a cooling mist finds way. Argots in prose do fall upon these ears. Pray tell, dear heart, why ask thee hope to stay? Trust’s every fear is naught but sorrows’ tears. True love thus feigned condemns the brightest day. Foreshadows of tomorrows came too soon. The petals on the ground have blown away. Now, for love this heart no longer feels its swoon. © Dane Ann Smith-Johnsen January 30, 2010 Poetic form: Iambic Pentameter

Dane-Ann, how sad you believe that love fades. I have found to opposite to be true. Case in point; the support shown me by all our soup friends this winter during my illness. Given a chance, love just grows and grows. Love, Will

"Trust's every fear is naught but sorrow's tears" is a great line, Dane Ann, and describes perfectly the anxiety many have before surrendering their hearts. Beautiful work! Love, Carolyn
