Love's Exquisite Flame
Loneliness feels like a cruel jest,
ignoring your heart's unanswered call.
Searching for a soulmate was your quest:
as the odds of finding one grew small.
Accepting lust as a form of love,
depression drowns your frustrated heart.
And as you struggle to rise above,
you place the blame on a naive start.
A wounded warrior reaps no fame,
refighting battles lost to the past.
For though forged in love's exquisite flame,
fragmented memories failed to last.
While pursuing fate with bated breath,
you hone the edge of forbidden thrills.
And take your pleasure in taunting Death;
using liquid fire and magic pills.
Disappointment draws your troubled soul
towards shadows: away from the light.
And levies an emotional toll:
fueling feelings of fight or flight.
