Notes About The Poem

Love's Exquisite Flame

Loneliness feels like a cruel jest, ignoring your heart's unanswered call. For though love was the goal of your quest; hopes of finding your soulmate grew small. Accepting lust as a form of love, you place the blame on Youth's naive start. And though you struggle to rise above; depression drowns your frustrated heart. A wounded warrior reaps no fame, reliving battles lost to the past. For though forged in love's exquisite flame, fragmented memories failed to last. While pursuing love with bated breath, you test the edge of forbidden thrills. And take your pleasure in taunting Death; downing liquid fire and magic pills. Disappointment draws your troubled soul towards shadows, away from the light. And levies an emotional toll; fueling feelings of fight or flight.

Congratulations on your win. I can feel the pain of love lost, the despair of life lost with that love. Some never recuperate. WellWell-written poem.

Emile, what an interesting and powerful poem. It seems this person is spiraling down and may not one day soon be able to resurface in the light of day.:) Amitiés

Your second stanza describes so many and why so many crimes are committed. It seems they want to share their pain by causing others to have pain. You have such a wonderful understanding of life Emile. 7 ; )

A very deep slice of the dark of the end of a relationship. So true, blame is scattered every where and decisions made aren't always the wisest. Nicely written and rhymed Emile.
