Lovers In a City

"LOVERS IN A CITY" I put the key inside the lock and open the door. I drop my bags as I picked up another dose of appreciation. I'm home, I thought. I can't wait to see her. oh, but there she is, by the window in our kitchen overlooking our city. her hair was flat from a night on the town. makeup uneven, the tracks of her tears line her face through the color of mascara. the cigarette she is smoking accumulates it's ashes. her eyes are glossed from the tears I interrupted. "so... what'd you do last night?" I ask. "oh not much... just stayed in," she replied. I see her heels parked neatly against our couch. she blinks and I nod. the answer came from his girl, his girl that overlooks their city in heartbreak. By: Chicano Eddie 8-10-2016
