Notes About The Poem

Love Or Wishful Thinking On Valentine's Day

Love or Wishful Thinking on Valentine’s Day

Too long have I lived with this fantasy
Lost love’s ardent knight on white horse, get the picture?
From hope’s gilded tower, breezes carried my kisses.

If that dreams could just return these kisses,
But I’m old enough to recognize fantasy.
Each year his face grows harder to picture.

With stained glass memories, I create a new picture,
One in which there are no incoming kisses,
Not even those from a child inclined toward fantasy.

-- Fantasy’s picture ran out of kisses.

When hope is lost life is lost. But sometimes we search for that which is in front of us if we could only see it. Luv this writing. Xx

Back to say, this is just wonderful! Truly, we choose the pictures we want to hold in our minds. Inspired by your write, I have been trying for hours, to write Tritinas and not having much success. You did this just beautifully! Thank You!

A Knight is merely a man, but a man with honor, and principles... someday, your Prince will come, if you still want him. By the way, do you do stained glass? I used to. Wonderful thing to do! I just love the complex and original rhythm in this, and the last line cuts like a knife! If illusion is a piece of Styrofoam, then this is the hot wire that slices right through it. And there are so many great lines in it! A wonderful, aching, blessing piece!

oh my goodness. So sad, Carolyn. But it's probably the most interesting well written of the tritinas I have been reading. VERY well done!!

Hi Carolyn, the fantasy always lives between us. Never let your dreams die Carolyn. Love never gives up on you. One day love shall sing again in your heart. Sometimes it needs but the simplest catalyst. An excellent, yet sad poem, flows from your pen. Sorry I wasn't around yesterday, laptop problems. Have a wonderful Friday. Hugs....Mike. XX
