Notes About The Poem

Love is alright for some.

Love Never Reaches My Shore No More

How can love be so good for you
When sometimes
You get so drunk and intoxicated
It can also make you blind
Nothing can hurt so much
And causes you so much pain
The sun rises no more
And you get drenched
In caustic acid rain
Cupid shot his arrow in the wrong direction
And I don't see Cupid any more
Left feeling like a kid in a candy store
So full of goodies
From the roof to the floor
Without a penny to spend
You can't buy what you need and can't afford
My ship of dreams I thought was coming never came at all
It just makes things you want
Want them more and more
The tasty apple you hungered for
Was rotten at
the core
Why don't ocean waves roll by
And never reach my shore
Although I'm glad it does for couples around the world
But for me
I don't believe in love
Anymore.

The pain of unrequited love is brought out well through the imagery of the apple, the ship and the sea.

How can love be good for you when sometimes it hurts the heart? But without it a different kind of pain we would feel. Believe.
