Love Long March

In a land of battles fierce and grand, I left my lover on our homeland, With longing heart and hopeful sigh, I marched away, my head held high. But as I trudge through mud and gore, I dream of love we shared before, A love as fresh as morning dew, Yet mine has grown, oh lover true. I hope to find your heart the same, A blazing love, an eternal flame, Yet time does march and hearts do change, Will my devotion you rearrange? Oh, Cupid's arrow, aim your might, Guide my love through day and night, For if I return to find love's bloom, Our future shall be a joyous room. But jest I say, with cynic's glee, What if my absence set you free? You found another, love anew, While I was out, my dear, with you? With satire's touch, I ponder deep, As battles rage and sorrows seep, Will I return to arms embrace, Or find a lover's cold, stern face? So onward I march, my heart aflame, To reach your love, or fate's cruel game, For home and family we shall yearn, Unless that sting sway bullet takes its turn.
