Love Is Not Enough

Strange putting much stake in forever
when there is really no such a thing
and pinning hopes on permanence
while the world goes on spinning.

Each day brings something new
that will shock and pull you down;
even change gradually changes
and nothing remains the same;
love is not a glue that fuses -
love is not enough.

Swear on the Bible for a love eternal
to bind hearts through thick and thin,
during sickness and in times of health;
don't bet on it, it will break your heart.

Each day brings something new
that will shock and pull you down;
even change gradually changes
and nothing remains the same;
love is not a glue that fuses -
love is not enough.

We think we know each other very well
but it is a gamble that we are playing;
time alters us no matter what we do
and puts a stranger right next to you.

Each day brings something new
that will shock and pull you down;
even change gradually changes
and nothing remains the same;
love is not a glue that fuses -
love is not enough.
