Love Is Eternal
Understand what they mean by "love is not selfish", you are now responsible not only for your life and decisions but also the emotional impact that your choices may or may not have on your significant other,which is why it is important to not see your partner as an island or someone that is seperate from you,but to see them as a part of you,this way your tendency of hurting the other party will fade as,simply,you would not hurt yourself and as a result you don't hurt your partner,yes at times you may fail yourself but you will put yourself first and try by all means not to repeat the same mistake again which caused harm the last time,I hope by now you'll have a better understanding of what is meant by the proverb or you will not because I am simply an outsider look at the inside from the outside.
Nonetheless love is a beautiful thing,and it's beauty does not fade with time or bad experiences simply because we humans do not understand it,love is still,it is unchanging and unfazed,it is pure and great,it exists but we have closed our eyes to its existence because not believing is sometimes easier than believing.
