Author's Notes: This particular write, entitled: "Love is" is a "Accentual Meter" type of poem. (I classified this poem in PoetrySoup under "Free Verse" since this type of accentual metered write is not normally listed under the PS classification pick-list.) This poem focuses on my attempt to articulate and define what love is. Love is certainly everything I've mentioned here and so much more that goes beyond the scope of this poem. I do think, however, that sixth and final stanza pulls it all together by reflecting that "Love is" both "God's Gift" and "God's Love." (Gary Bateman -- June 13, 2015)

Accentual Meter Calculations and Notes:

Accentual Meter Parameters (3 to 6 Syllables per verse)

Range: 5 x 3 = 15 (min) / 5 x 6 = 30 (max)

Total Syllables = 151 (Out of 180 Syllables maximum possible)

Total Words = 102 / Stanzas = 6 / Verses = 30

("How Many Syllables Counter" was used for syllable confirmation for both automated and manual syllable counts and cross-check.)

Love is

Love is special
Romantic feelings
Sensual thoughts  
Hope and expectations
Seize the moment!

Love is a real drug
Casting a spell
On one’s inner psyche
Bringing pleasure
Leaving a message!

Love is with you
As one sees answers
In the eyes and heart
Emotions so special
Feel our love whole!

Love is alchemy pure
Paracelsian—yes
A dramatic power
Emotion + Passion + Joy
Equals Love so pure!

Love is the reddest rose
Supreme symbol of love
Flower of pulchritude
Sends a clear message
Love signal affirmed!

Love is magical
Love is majestic
Love is divine
Love is God’s Gift
Love is God’s Love!

Broken Wings, Thank you again for dropping by and commenting on "Love is." I really like these Accentual Meter type of writes. They force the poet to use a paucity of words in getting his or her message across. Kind of a economy of force mechanism like when a poet writes a sonnet or heroic couplet in iambic pentameter. I like the tension the metered writes imposed which gives an air of precision in the verses and stanza. And I did really enjoy your "Bluebirds Sing" poem. Very much so!! Best Wishes Always, Gary

David, Also the timeline out for my second book is about 18 months or so. It will be probably about three times as long as my first one.
