Love At First Glance

Love at First Glance
Saw you sitting there one magical night
And instantly my heart took off in flight
Bravely I asked you if you’d care to dance
It was a yes that led to our romance.

The first moment I held you in my arms
I was mesmerised by your luring charms
Below the glitter ball you came aglow
‘Twas then I knew I could never let you go.

As time went by we fell madly in love
For us it was written in stars above
My dream had came true when you said “I do”
I vowed to always love and cherish you.

Sadly came the tragic day we parted
Leaving you left behind stricken hearted
My darling wife, my life, my beauty Queen
I'm still there beside you unheard, unseen.

Without doubt we were an ideal match
No one on earth could ever dispute that
We’ll meet again on God’s ace-high dance floor
Waltzing evermore in heaven’s splendour.

Mv Venkataraman July 5, 2023 at 9:20 AM In the sixteenth line, in the place of love, you can put "asset" to rhyme with "that" and your poem is simply superb. Perfectly written with the simplest words, but can't believe that it is so wonderful and meaningful. All the best! Jennifer Proxenos May 25, 2023 at 2:22 AM When two people fall hopelessly in love it is as if a symphony, an opera, is playing loud at first and then softens and moulds your future love, i don't know why these two parted, perhaps death would be the only solution for me, because they were so ecstatically happy and in love.
